![]() Fighting and defeating the Jotun really helped keep the spirit of the game alive until the very end, and in the end - I was glad to have played and journeyed through Jotun: Valhalla Edition. En julio probamos la beta de Jotun, un prometedor lanzamiento de Thunder Lotus Games. Explore vast regions of Norse Purgatory to find runes to unleash the jotun, giant Norse elementals. In Jotun, you play Thora, a Viking warrior who died an inglorious death and must prove herself to the Gods to enter Valhalla. ![]() But even though some parts were dull and barren, I did enjoy the beautiful setting of the mythological regions created before me. Description Jotun is a hand-drawn action-exploration game set in Norse mythology. unfolding panorama you see above is actually the map of the games first area. The use of lively camera direction and beautiful backdrops had me in awe at parts, but ultimately I couldn’t help but feel disinterested throughout most of my playthrough - and the long loading times definitely did not help. The updated version Jotun: Valhalla Edition is now available on PS4 for. ![]() The design of Jotun Valhalla Edition is very simple, and overall I think the lack of dynamic gameplay hindered the experience I had with it. Otherwise the game seemed to run fantastic, and I didn’t really experience any frame rate drops. Each level has a very simple design, so exploring for the sparse health power ups wasn’t very enjoyable - especially when highlighted by the up to 15 seconds long loading times in between maps. While traveling between areas, a relatively long loading screen consistently shows up, which was really one of the biggest problems I had with the game. short game with high score boards and a more difficult valhalla mode. The simple gameplay of using light and charged attacks mixed in with knowing when to use the strong powers obtained along the way, works well in creating a fair fight, and feels satisfying when downing a foe 100 times your size. And although it doesnt stand out as much, the map exploration is also really. These fights can get pretty intense, but never feel too hard to overcome after a few tries. The definite highlights are when facing the Jotun, for here is when some good ol’ fashioned Boss patterns show up. It is surrounded by an incomplete wall built by a Jotun. Playing sort of like a top-down Zelda, you will spend most of your time running through various environments, solving moderately easy puzzles, and occasionally having an enemy show up to attack. Jotun: Valhalla Edition - Impress the Gods Jotun is a hand-drawn action-exploration game set in Norse mythology. Asgard is where the sir, the gods, live and where Valhalla, the Hall of the Slain, can be found. But all in all, the visuals stand out as one of the bigger pluses included in the game. Some artwork is more impressive than others however, and I felt that throughout the game everything felt a little inconsistent, partly due to the frequent amount of scaling characters and enemies that made some enemies look a bit goofy. When entering new areas I did feel a sense of wonder as the dynamic camera panned in and out, highlighting the depth and size of the areas I was journeying through. My only real-and main gripe-would be that there’s no real replayability, and sometimes it can feel like it’s dragging on while you are searching for the rune to progress. The background scenery and character animation, for the most part, is sublime. Once you dispatch them, you learn more about Thora and move closer to her goal, which took me around 10 hours to complete. This is easily the best part of the game when you finally reach the boss fights, as they’re epic in scale and a hell of a lot of fun. Once you have both runes you can proceed to the boss fight-and they’re giants! I mean that literally. While at the world map known as Ginnungagap (the void), Thora can see the five main areas, where each has two stages in which she must locate the runes. Also, once you upgrade your god powers, Thora can use one of the God Powers: Frigg's Healing, Freya's Speed, Thor's Hammer, Odin's Spear, Loki's Decoy, or Heimdall's Shield, all of which can be replenished at Mimir's Wells. You can find secret locations that have special golden apples which will give Thora a permanent health bump.
